Sample Exam Question

Cross media synergy has always been an important aspect within film. Whether it be in the production or marketing these collaborations across different medias has helped to develop films. A good example of this is cross media synergy used by Warner Bros.

Warner Bros was founded by four brothers, Albert, Harry, Samuel, Jack in 1903. They started with buying movie theaters, then moving to film distribution and then finally starting to produce their own movies in 1913. After a few years, in 1923, they moved to their current production area in the city of Hollywood California establishing Warner's Brothers Pictures Inc. They would be the first company to produce a full-length film with dialogue in 1928. Moving on the company would be known for their gangster movies and looney tunes. In 1967 the company would be bought by Elliot and Ken Hyman and then sold to the Kinny Corporation two years later. They would diversify the company into producing different media forms including movies, video games, and comic books. They would collaborate with Universal Pictures to create "Twisters" in 2024.

In the film "Twisters" Warner Bros in collaboration with Universal Pictures would hire several different mainstream country artists to create the soundtrack for the film. Some of these names include Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, and Tyler Childers among more. They used these songs in the production of the film as the soundtrack to accompany the scenes. Along with this the music was also released appearing on the radio and several listening platforms like Spotify. The most popular of these would be "Ain't No Love in Oklahoma," by Luke Combs grossing millions of listens. This would generate anticipation for the upcoming film, drawing many to the theaters.

Another way cross media synergy would help the film was the collaboration between Ram Trucks and the movie. In the production Ram Trucks would be the truck used throughout, though more importantly was the marketing along with it. With the new 2025 Ram truck there were multiple advertisements in collaboration with the film even with starring actors like Glen Powell. These advertisements would appear on television trying to get viewers to see the film. This collaboration would also result in a push for donating blood, if someone were to donate blood they would be given a free ticket to the film, possibly bringing even more people to the theaters.

Films use cross media synergy frequently in order to produce or even boost the sales and get more people to see the film. This is used by Twisters in the collaboration with Ram and the country artists, the popularity of the Ram brand with the advertisements helped market the film. Along with this the several artists would produce music that would amass millions of streams providing a relationship of helping the artist and advertising the film. Along with this these relationships were seen in production, with the music acting as a soundtrack and the Ram trucks being using in the film itself. Due to the success of these relationships it is clear that cross media synergy is important within film.
